How to get a new non-professional driving license in Bangladesh

BRTA is the appointed authority to provide Driving license to its applicant. Here all information are regarding 'new non-professional driving license' only.

Basically the process is divided into 2 steps.

1. Taking Learner Driving License

2. Applying for Driving License

1. Taking learner driving license

To get a new Driving License you must have to take Learner Driving License first. Applicants have to apply to the devoted BRTA office according to their Present/ Permanent address and age requirement is 18 years at least for non-professional.

A) Applicants need to Complete Learner Driving License Application Form properly and submit along with necessary documents listed below.

i) Photograph; passport size 1 copy and stamp size 3 copy.
ii) Proof of age by attested photocopy of National ID card/ Birth Certificate or Passport.
iii) Proof of address through Electric/ Gas/ Water bill or any other government approved certificate.

iv) Money Receipt of fee according to category ( category1-345TK, category2-518TK ) from selected bank. ( List of selected banks can be found here http://www.brta.gov.bd/newsite/en/list-of-selected-bank-branchs-or-booths/ )

v) Medical Certificate from Registered Doctor.

B) There are some tips bellow to fill the Learner Driving License Application Form.

a. Download Learner Driving License Application Form ( http://www.brta.gov.bd/newsite/wp-content/uploads/app_for_learners_driving_license.pdf )

b. Fill it according to Certificate.
c. Information of Driving Instructor is required.

d. In this form, Medical Certificate part should be filled by a Registered Doctor.

C) Now the form is complete and submit it with mentioned documents. If everything are OK then BRTA will issue Learner Driving License.

D) Take note of your Exam date. On the Exam day you need this learner card to sit for a written exam. To qualify this test, there are some help in the BRTA website. Those are given bellow.

E) After Passing the written exam, it's time for oral interview. Here they will ask about traffic signs. Traffic signs list is given in their website http://www.brta.gov.bd/newsite/en/traffic-signs/ 

F) Now practical test will be held. BRTA has no vehicle to take this test. However, if you don't have won automobile, that is not a problem. You will be able to manage it upon a payment of 200-400TK. 

G) Applicants have to submit their learner card to appear in practical test. Thereafter examiner will inform when to collect the learner card. If an applicant passes the test then he/ she can apply for Driving License.

2. Applying for Driving license

A) Now qualified applicants are allowed to apply for Driving License. To apply applicants have to fill up i) Driving License Application Form & ii) Form B. These forms can be found in this link http://www.brta.gov.bd/newsite/wp-content/uploads/Non-Professional-DL-Form-full.pdf

B) Applicants need to Complete Driving License Application Form and Form B properly for submitting along with necessary documents listed below.

i) Passport size 4 copy photograph.
ii) Attested photocopy of National ID card/ Birth Certificate or Passport.

iii) Money Receipt of fee from selected bank. ( 2542TK for non-professional )( List of selected banks can be found here http://www.brta.gov.bd/newsite/en/list-of-selected-bank-branchs-or-booths/ ).

iv) Photocopy of that Money Receipt.
v) Learner Driving License.
vi) Photocopy of that Learner Driving License.
C) Now these forms are ready to submit. If everything are OK then BRTA will issue an Acknowledged Receipt. Picture of an Acknowledged Receipt. Here the date for the Bio-metrics will be mentioned. 

3. Bio-metrics information collection

A) Applicant have to present on this day to provide his/ her bio-metrics information. Necessary papers are i) Acknowledged Receipt & ii) Photocopy of that Acknowledged Receipt.

B) After providing bio-metrics information, BRTA will return your Acknowledged Receipt with new receipt. In this new receipt license delivery date will be mentioned.

4. Delivery of  Driving License
BRTA will send an SMS regarding the delivery date. Applicant have to collect their Driving License on informed date or within 7 days from that date. Otherwise applicant may face difficulties.
